A Luxembourgish author and translator, he is best known for works such as Die Tote aus Arlon (1997) and Iwwer Waasser (1998). He wrote both fiction and nonfiction works, including novels, short stories, travel essays, and literary criticism.
He studied romance languages and journalism in Mainz and Salzburg.
He used the pseudonym of Theo Selmer for his occasional work as an illustrator.
His family lived in the commune-city of Differdange, Luxembourg at the time of his birth.
