George Jean Nathan

An American writer, editor, and drama critic, he helped bring the magazine, The Smart Set, to prominence. He also edited The American Mercury.
He graduated from Cornell University and worked as an editor for the Cornell Daily Sun. Upon his graduation, he became a New York-based theater critic.
The George Jean Nathan Award is named after him.
He was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana. A well-known ladies' man, he finally married
Actress Marilyn Monroe starred in the film, All About Eve, which featured a womanizing character based on George Jean Nathan.
