Popular television and radio host who many remember for his work on The Match Game. Also a musical theater performer, he starred in the Broadway production of Bye Bye Birdie.
Before beginning his television career, he hosted a New York City morning radio show.
He served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II.
His marriage to Helen Ticknor lasted from 1940 until Ticknor's death in 1996. The union produced a daughter named Lynn.
Both he and Michael Burger hosted Match Game.
