Known for being one of the founding members of The Byrds. He was a proponent of psychedelic rock, country rock, baroque pop, newgrass, and alternative country.
He fell in love with folk music thanks to the Kingston Trio.
He wrote I'll Feel a Whole Lot Better, She Don't Care About Time, and numerous other songs for The Byrds.
He had twelve siblings. He took guitar and harmonica lessons from his father when he was nine years old.
He and David Crosby both gained fame as members of The Byrds.
