American country music artist best known for his 1983 song, "The Wind Beneath My Wings." His album Why Lady Why was Gold-certified by the RIAA in 1983.
He won a talent show in third grade after singing the song "This Old House" by Rosemary Clooney with his sister; after graduating high school, he won a sports scholarship to Crisco Junior College.
His 1987 duet song with Crystal Gayle called 'Another World' was used as the theme song for the NBC soap opera Another World.
He has a twin sister named Carey and a brother named Mark.
He took part in the presidential campaign for Jimmy Carter and would sing at fundraisers.
