Professional catcher that was drafted by the Houston Astros during the eighth round of the 2015 MLB Draft. He began his professional career playing for the Tri-City ValleyCats of the Frontier League.
Prior to being drafted, he attended the University of Southern California where he won the Johnny Bench Award and was named the Pac-12 Conference's Defensive Player of the Year during his senior year.
He made his major league debut playing against the Chicago Cubs on May 28, 2019.
His grandfather, Fred Shuey, was a minor league baseball player. His brother C.J. was drafted in 2019.
He played alongside Carlos Correa during the 2021 MLB season.
