Frederick Temple
Religious Leader
English religious leader who was the Archbishop of Canterbury from 1896 until 1902.
He won a scholarship at Balliol College, Oxford before he turned seventeen.
In 1857 he was select preacher at his university and taught at Rugby School in 1858.
His grandfather was William Johnson Temple who was Rector of Memhead in Devon.
His grandfather was mentioned several times in James Boswell's book Life of Johnson.
