Frederick Soddy

An English chemist who was known for his studies of radioactive substances. He was awarded the 19201 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for discovering that radioactivity is caused by the transmutation of elements.
He was a researcher at Oxford from 1898 to 1900.
His essays on radioactivity was the inspiration for H. G. Wells's The World Set Free in 1914.
He married Winifred Beilby in 1908.
He won the Nobel Prize in chemistry the year after Walther Nernst.
