Major League Baseball journeyman player who became a manager with Milwaukee and later a front-office executive with the Angels.
After a solid seven-year playing career he became a manager in the farm leagues. After that he became manager of the Milwaukee Braves and their roster of future Hall of Famers.
His Braves played in the World Series in 1958, losing to the Yankees; and in 1960 he became the first general manager of the California Angels expansion team.
He was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Hank Aaron was on the 1967 Milwaukee Braves team coached by Hanley that won the World Series.
