He and his American Pickers co-host Mike Wolfe grew up alongside one another. He was able to continue his hobby of antique collecting, which he had done for years prior to the show's premiere.
His debut episode of American Pickers garnered the then-most views for a debut episode for a History Channel show. It became the highest rated non-fiction show on TV for 2010.
He was born and raised in Davenport, Iowa.
In 2011, he appeared on an episode of American Pickers alongside William Shatner, whose house he was re-designing.
