Supercentenarian
Remembered for her World War I-era participation in the Women's Royal Air Force, this British citizen also became their as a supercentenarian; she died just two weeks short of her 111th birthday.
She enlisted in the Women's Royal Air Force when she was just seventeen years old, having no idea that, nearly a century later, she would earn the distinction of being the oldest living World War I veteran.
At the time of her death, she was one of ten supercentenarians alive in Great Britain.
Her nearly six-decade marriage to military man and railroad worker Walter Green resulted in two daughters -- May and June -- and one son, Bob.
Canadian artist Christian Cardell Corbet included an image of Green's face in a World War I mural he created.
