Artist, musician, songwriter, author, actor, and media personality who won the Miss Black USA pageant in 1990. Known for the "Indie Artist Bootcamp" series of books.
She studied at the University of Michigan Business School and at the Juilliard School for Performing Arts.
Her first published literary work was titled "A Homegirl Returns to the Ghetto."
Her birth name was Leslie Waddell. Her book "Greens and Grits" incorporated her grandmother's recipes along with bits of wisdom.
She and renowned actress Laura Linney both attended the elite Juilliard School in New York City.
