After rising to prominence for her portrayal of Mrs. Tardebigge on the ITV soap opera Crossroads, she played Joan on The Famous Five; Aunt Florie on Harry and the Wrinklies; and Noreen on Benidorm.
A stage performer and director as well as a screen actress, she headed the Birkenhead Operatic Society Trust beginning in the early 1970s.
Apart from her acting career, she taught vocal music at Liverpool's Elliott-Clarke School.
She spent her youth in Merseyside, England.
She played a small role in the 2011 William Hurt feature Late Bloomers.
