Edgar Saltus
Poet
An American writer of such philosophical works as The Philosophy of Disenchantment and The Anatomy of Negation, he is remembered for his refined literary style. His other works include Love and Lore (1890) and Imperial Purple (1892).
He graduated from Columbia University in 1880 with a law degree. Four years later, he published a biography of Balzac.
His final resting place is the their Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in New York.
His brother, Francis Saltus, was a poet.
He is often compared to Oscar Wilde.
