His 1997, chart-topping single "Señor Official" deals with the injustice against Puerto Rican men by the police.
He was born Eddie Alexander Avila Ortiz, the son of Diomaris Ortiz and Eddie Avila.
He and El General both became popular singers in the reggaeton genre.
