Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt who is widely recognized as a revolutionary figure in American jiu jitsu's submission grappling scene. He won the Eddie Bravo Invitational in 2015 and 2016 at 145 pounds.
He began his Brazilian jiu-jitsu career while a student at Stony Brook University. He would go on to earn his blue belt there.
He finished in 3rd place at the 2012 Grapplers Quest US Nationals tournament. He earned his black belt in January 2015 after 5 years of training.
He was originally born and raised in New York.
He and Jake Shields have competed at the same grappling tournaments in jiu-jitsu.
