Singer and instrumentalist who rose to prominence with the heavy metal band, Black Panther.
He grew up in Beijing where he learned to play the flute and the guitar.
After they published a less than flattering article about Dou's second wife, the Beijing News headquarters was attacked by the enraged musician, who demolished keyboards and set fire to a writer's car in the parking lot.
He married Gao Yuan in 2002 and had two children named Dou Jingtong and Dou Jiayuan.
His album Dark Dreams was influenced by the rock group The Cure and their frontman Robert Smith.
