Donald Judd
Sculptor
Minimalist sculptor whose most their works sit in Munster (Germany), Marfa (Texas, U.S.), and Jerusalem (Israel). He detested the term, minimalism, and was focused more on eliminating compositional hierarchy from his work.
He attended the College of William and Mary, where he studied philosophy. He finished his degree at Columbia University School of General Studies and studied with Meyer Schapiro and Rudolf Wittkower for his Master's in art history.
He taught courses at Oberlin College.
His family was residing in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, when he was born. He married dancer Julie Finch, with whom he had two children.
He was a contemporary of Jasper Johns.
