Don Hewitt
TV Producer
60 Minutes executive producer for over thirty years. He also produced the CBS Evening News with Walter Cronkite.
After graduating from New York University, he worked as a gofer for the New York Herald Tribune.
In 1960, he produced the first-ever televised presidential debate (between Vice President Richard Nixon and Senator John F. Kennedy).
He was married to Mary Weaver, then to theater producer Frankie Hewitt, and then to writer and journalist Marilyn Berger.
He hired Morley Safer and many other legendary journalists for 60 Minutes.
