He met Matt Bellamy at school, where they both were fans of jazz music. His first band was called Carnage Mayhem.
He received an honorary doctorate from the University of Plymouth.
He resides in Los Angeles and London. His father was William Howard.
He is joined by lead singer and guitarist Matthew Bellamy and bassist Christopher Wolstenholme in Muse.
