Former actor who won a BAFTA Award for Most Promising Newcomer to Leading Film Roles in 1971 for his role in The Go-Between. His other films include Picnic at Hanging Rock and Gandhi.
He was born in London and raised by his father, who was an actor.
He later became an accredited psychotherapist and a writer of children's books.
His older brother Christopher also became an actor, and their father, Philip, was a stage actor.
He starred alongside Richard Burton in the 1978 film, Absolution.
