Prior to becoming an actress, she was a singer in local clubs.
In 1954, she was honored with a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance in Carnival in Flanders.
She married Andrew Crevolin in 1966.
She appeared with Gregory Peck in the 1957 film Designing Woman.
