Her high-pitched voice that was once described as resembling "a Tweetie Pie cartoon bird strangling on peanut butter" contributed to her scatter-brained persona that she played for much of her career.
She was born Dolores Goodman, in Columbus, Ohio. Her father, Dexter, was a cigar factory owner.
She was a regular on the TV sitcom Diff'rent Strokes, which starred Gary Coleman.
