Composer
One of Bulgaria's most important 20th-century composers. He was known for his choral, church, and orchestra music. He helped introduce the idea of using Bulgarian folklore elements in compositions to the country's musical culture.
He attended the Prague Conservatory beginning in 1903.
He led The Seven Saints, a Sofia-based church ensemble and choir, from 1911 until 1928.
His family was residing in Varna when he was born.
He was at Prague during Antonin Dvorak's tenure as director.
