He suffered from epilepsy as a child and began his entertainment career after being discovered at a karaoke contest.
His stage name was inspired by the 5,300-year old mummy known as Otzi the Iceman, discovered in the Otztal Alps.
His father is DJ Anton Friedle. He was given up for adoption by his mother, who was a teenager at the time of his birth. His birth name is Gerhard Friedle. In 2001 he married Sonja Friedle and together they had a daughter in 2002.
