An industrial designer and head of Germany's Braun corporation who developed his influential ten principles of good design.
He began studying at Wiesbaden School of Art, and earned practical experience as an apprentice carpenter, before joining Braun.
His mantra of simple, functional, and unobtrusive design was taken to heart especially by apple, whose lead designer was a disciple of Rams.
His philosophy of design was inspired by his grandfather, who often went by the principle: Less, but better.
He praised Steve Jobs's Apple company as one of the few to do designs according to his principles.
