Hall of Fame linebacker who played nine seasons with the Chicago Bears and was selected to eight Pro Bowls. He retired with 1,020 tackles, 22 interceptions and 27 fumble recoveries.
He grew up in Chicago but preferred watching baseball instead of football.
After dominating in college at the University of Illinois, he had his number 50 retired by the school.
He married his high school sweetheart Helen, and they had three kids together, and their son went on to play for USC.
He appeared in a few movies, including The Longest Yard starring Burt Reynolds.
