NHL left winger who played for the Minnesota Wild and New York Rangers before tragically dying at the age of 28 after an accidental drug and alcohol overdose.
He played junior hockey for the WHL's Regina Pats, Prince George Cougars and Medicine Hat Tigers from 1999 to 2003.
He had a reputation as a fighter on the ice. Across his 277-game NHL career, he tallied 589 penalty minutes and recorded just 16 points.
He was born to Joanne and Len Boogaard and raised with two brothers, Ryan and Aaron, and a sister, Krysten.
He was teammates with Mikko Koivu on the Wild.
