Singer-songwriter who recorded the soul classic "Free" in 1976, as well as hits like "It's Gonna Take a Miracle" and "Let's Hear it for The Boy."
She first wanted to be an anesthetist, but dropped out of college due to her poor grades. She went on to sing at Casino Royal, as well as work as a ward clerk at a Chicago hospital.
She is a multi-Grammy Award-winning singer, winning Best Female Soul Gospel Performance in 1987 for "I Surrender All."
She has been married three times: to Ken Williams, Brad Westering, and Christopher Joy. She has four sons named Logan, Kendrick, Forrest and Kevin.
She often sang duets with Johnny Mathis.
