Before founding and serving as CEO of a social networking service called Yammer, Inc., this successful entrepreneur was the COO of PayPal and established the genealogical research website Geni.com.
After graduating from Stanford University with a degree in economics and subsequently earning a law degree from the University of Chicago, he worked briefly as a consultant for McKinsey & Company.
After establishing a production company called Room 9 Entertainment, he financed the 2005 Jason Reitman-directed film Thank You For Smoking. He co-founded Craft Ventures in 2017.
A native of Cape Town, South Africa, he moved to the United States at the age of five and attended high school in Memphis, Tennessee. He and Jacqueline Tortorice married in 2007 and later welcomed two daughters.
He and PayPal founder and fellow entrepreneur Peter Thiel attended Stanford University at the same time and co-wrote a work titled The Diversity Myth: Multiculturalism and the Politics of Intolerance at Stanford.
