Known for writing Ain't That a Shame and Blue Monday with Fats Domino, for whom he arranged Blueberry Hill, the legend's greatest bestseller.
He played with numerous bands of the South, particularly in New Orleans. He developed a style that fused rhythm and blues, big band, swing music, rock and roll, New Orleans jazz, and Dixieland seamlessly.
He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame.
He was the son of Louis Bartholomew and Marie Roussell.
His Ain't That a Shame proved to be a huge hit for Pat Boone.
