Wife of the Nobel laureate Lech Wałęsa, who was also the President of Poland from 1990 to 1995.
She was working in a flower shop when she met her future husband, who was at the time an electrician.
She travelled to Oslo to accept the Nobel Peace Prize on behalf of her husband, who had to stay behind to govern Poland.
