Daniel J. Murphy
War Hero
U.S. Navy Four-Star Admiral who held government positions during the administrations of Carter and Reagan.
He attended the University of Maryland, the Naval War College, and St. John's University before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1943.
He commanded the Bennington aircraft carrier during the 1960s and the Sixth Fleet during the 1970s.
His son, Daniel J. Murphy, Jr., grew up to be a Navy Vice Admiral.
He was the Chief of Staff for then-Vice President George Bush during the Reagan administration.
