He began studying music in Paris when he was only five. He graduated from the University of Michigan where he majored in Piano Performance.
He was made professor at Brussels' Royal Conservatory of Music.
His father was Col. Peter J. Blumenthal, U.S. Army, and his mother was Rivkah Blumenthal.
He mastered the works of many composers, including George Gershwin.
