He was raised in Queensland, Australia and played his youth rugby career with the Mackay Brothers.
His father, Troy "Bluey" Evans, was also a professional rugby player.
He had a daughter, Navi, with his partner, Nessa.
He was named after Olympic Gold Medalist, Daley Thompson, who was a favorite athlete of Cherry-Evans' mother, Kellie.
