All-rounder who played for Yorkshire from 1990 to 2007, represented England in the 1996 and 2003 Cricket World Cup, recorded a Test century against India in 2001.
He was raised in Australia but moved back to his native England, where he became Yorkshire's first-ever overseas signing.
He became President of the Royal Burton Agnes Cricket Club and served as a coach for the Hampshire County Cricket Club after his retirement.
His sister Andrea married the former Australian international cricketer Darren Lehmann.
He and Morne Morkel both played for Yorkshire in county cricket.
