Musician notable for being part of the duo The Proclaimers alongside his twin brother. They became best known for singing with their Scottish accents on songs such as "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" and "Sunshine on Leith."
He attended Bell Baxter High School in Auchtermuchty. He was part of several punk rock bands before The Proclaimers were formed in 1983.
A fan of theirs sent a demo to the English band the Housemartins. After this, they were invited on the Housemartins tour and in turn earned enough exposure to be featured on the Channel Four show The Tube.
He and twin brother Charlie Reid were born in Leith, Edinburgh, Scotland. The band originated in Auchtermuchty, Fife, Scotland.
The cast and crew of Doctor Who filmed a video of their song "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" to mark the departure of The Doctor, David Tennant.
