When he was just nineteen years old, he contributed to A Tribe Called Quest's album Beats, Rhymes, and Life.
His first studio album, Don't Quit Your Day Job!, rose to #12 on the United States rap music chart.
His cousin Q-Tip also had a successful career as a rapper.
He was involved in a public feud with fellow rapper Pusha T over Pusha T's alleged plagiarizing of the Consequence song "The Last Supper."
