Connie Chung
Journalist
Broadcast journalist and interviewer known for her work with NBC, CBS, and CNN. She hosted such programs as Good Morning America, the CBS Evening News, Eye to Eye with Connie Chung, and Weekends with Maury and Connie.
In 1969, she graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with a journalism degree. She began her career as a correspondent for CBS Evening News with Walter Cronkite in Washington, D.C. in the early 1970s.
Her 1995 interview with Kathleen Gingrich (mother of politician Newt Gingrich) contained an intheir, whispered exchange regarding Newt Gingrich's negative views of Hillary Clinton.
She married talk show host Maury Povich in 1984, converting to Judaism in the process. Together, they adopted a son named Matthew.
She was the first journalist to interview Magic Johnson after he announced that he was HIV positive.
