Four time medalist in both road and track World Cycling Championships who also won a gold medal at the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympic Games.
She started as a competitive speed skater but an ankle injury helped shift gears to become a cyclist.
She has also competed as a speed skater in the Winter Olympics.
She has two children named Taylor and Kelsey with her husband Davis Phinney.
She was a student athlete at the University of California just like former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Desean Jackson.
