Clyde Tolson
Law Enforcement Officer
FBI Associate Director who served from 1930 to 1972. He is best remembered for his close association with J. Edgar Hoover.
He received his law degree from George Washington University in 1927.
He was involved in a 1942 gun fight with prominent New York gangster Harry Brunette.
He was born in Grundy County, Missouri and attended business school in Cedar Rapids, Iowa before working as an assistant to three Secretaries of War.
He was the protégé of FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover. He inherited Hoover's entire estate, and the two men may have had a romantic relationship.
