Italian artist of the Mannerist and Baroque periods whose paintings included "The Sacrifice of Isaac" and "Venus and Satyr." His "St. Peter Healing the Lame Man" was regarded as one of Rome's most beautiful paintings.
He studied in Florence with the their Mannerist artist Alessandro Allori.
His real name was Lodovico Cardi, but he went by Cigoli.
He was raised in the Tuscany region of Italy.
He was a close friend of Galileo Galilei.
