Initially their for portraying Brad Majors in the first London production of The Rocky Horror Show, he later became notable for his work as a theater producer, as well as for his appearances in the 1980s films Labyrinth (as Father) and Highlander (as Kirk Matunas).
After studying drama at the University of British Columbia, he made his professional stage debut with England's their Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC).
Two decades after starring in The Rocky Horror Show, he produced the Olivier and Tony-nominated West End and Broadway revivals of the popular musical.
He was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, and raised primarily in British Columbia, Canada. He settled in London, England, during his early adulthood years and raised children named Marlon, Morgan, and Nell with his wife, Judy.
He and Susannah York were both in the cast of the 1982 television miniseries We'll Meet Again.
