She was a standout gospel singer in high school. Later, she went to Five Towns College for vocal performance.
Her song "Be Ok" won a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Performance in 2009.
She grew up on Long Island alongside her younger sister. In 2015 she became engaged to Doug "Biggs" Ellison.
She collaborated with Rick Ross on the song "Maybach Music."
