Chen Wen Hsi
Painter
Avant-garde painter who received the Public Service Star of Singapore in 1964. He was known for his oil paintings, as well as for his Chinese ink paintings.
He studied at the Shanghai and Xinhua Colleges of Art. His teachers included the famed Pan Tianshou.
His common artistic subjects were people, animals, and landscapes.
His uncle objected to his artistic career.
He and Choy Yang were fellow Chinese artists.
