Charles Haughey

After serving as Irish Minister for Justice, Agriculture, Finance, Health, and Social Welfare, this Fianna Fáil party politician became a three-term Taoiseach (Prime Minister) of Ireland.
After earning a business degree from University College Dublin, he served in the Irish Local Defence Force and went on to become both a barrister and an accountant.
One of the most controversial politicians in Irish history, he was involved in several political scandals, including the 1970 Arms Crisis and the 1982 GUBU Affair.
His marriage to Maureen Lemass resulted in four children, including a son, Seán, who also had a career in Irish politics. While married to Lemass, Haughey had a more than two-decade-long affair with gossip writer Terry Keane.
He and fellow Fianna Fáil party leader Brian Cowen both held office as Taoiseach of Ireland.
