Television personality best known for hosting the long-running children's show "En Familia con Chabelo." He is also an accomplished musician with more than thirty albums under his belt.
He was born in Chicago and received his first acting credit as an actor in the 1958 comedy "Vuelve Chistelandia." He served in the US Army and he was almost deployed in the Korean War. He pursued a career in medicine and practiced it for four years.
He received recognition from Guinness World Records in 2012 for having played the character of Chabelo on television for a record 57 years.
His parents were from León, Guanajuato. He had two sisters. He married Teresita Miranda in 1969 and they had three sons named Óscar, Javier and Juan Gabriel.
In 1962, he had a small role in the movie El Extra starring legendary Mexican actor Cantinflas.
