She was 15 years old when she left school and had an early job as a dental nurse before starting her own business as a photographer's agent.
She was named Inspirational Woman of the Year in 2013 and won the Royal Television Society Award for Four Rooms in 2014.
She and her husband had two children.
She and Linda Barker are both reality personalities who work as interior designers.
