She was a vocalist with Dancin’ Danny D’s group D Mob and released three solo albums in the 1990s, reaching moderate success.
She received a Best Dance Recording Grammy Award in 2004 for Kylie Minogue's "Come Into My World," and the next year received the same award for Britney Spears's "Toxic."
Her father, a musician in his own right, first nurtured her musical talent.
She signed with Simon Fuller's 19 Management Company and got her her first record deal.
