Famous as the winner of the 2001 Miss United States World pageant and as a contestant in that year's Miss World pageant, she is also recognized for her appearances in advertising campaigns for the gambling site PlayersOnly.
In 1998, while attending Smoky Mountain High School, she won the Miss United States Teen pageant title.
Nigerian contestant Agbani Darego ultimately won the 2001 Miss World pageant in which Stroup competed.
Born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and raised in the mountains of North Carolina, she is the daughter of Debbie and Joe Stroup.
She had a guest spot in an episode of the Zach Braff comedy series Scrubs.
